Plans are being made for this year's St. Patrick's Day Parade in Sioux Falls.
The 37th annual event is being held on Saturday, March 12 in downtown with a new route. The parade will start at 2 p.m. from Phillips Avenue and 13th Street. It will go north on Phillips Avenue to 5th Street.
The Grand Marshal will be Dr. Pat O'Brien, a retired Sioux Falls cardiologist and health care administrator who says he is 75 percent Irish.
Events on March 12 start at 11:30 a.m. with the painting of the shamrock at 9th Street and Phillips Avenue. Staging for the parade starts at 12:30 p.m. on Main and Dakota Avenues between 11th and 13th Streets. Streets adjacent to the parade route will be closed at 1:30 p.m.
Parade organizers request participants register to ensure there are enough volunteers to help. You can learn more about that on the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce website.
