Police say this is the season where homeowners will see more door-to-door salesmen.

According to Sioux Falls Police, two men were going door-to-door selling cleaning products near Minnesota Avenue between 57th and 69th Street. A homeowner asked to see their peddler's and state sales tax licenses, but both refused to show paperwork.

When officers arrived, they discovered that neither had city or state-issued paperwork to sell goods. Police spokesperson Sam Clemen said the two were working through T&B Sales, a company based out of Georgia.

Failing to have a peddler's license is a city ordinance, Clemens said. If a seller doesn't have a sales tax license, they could first face misdemeanor charges and felony charges in later incidents.

Sidney Antwon Terrell Jackson, 25, of Sioux Falls, and Ricky Edward Woodall, 24 of St. Louis, MO, were both arrested on fraud charges.

Police added that registered nonprofit organizations are exempt from peddler and sales tax laws.
