With the announcement of Sir Paul McCartney making a stop in Sioux Falls, Beatles fans and local music legends are sharing the impact his concert will have.
Although, this is one of the smallest venues McCartney has played in during his solo-career, his show is sure to have a big impact on those who can score tickets.
"Of all the shows that I've seen, it's the best one I've ever seen," Myron Lee said.
Those are the words of former Midwest rock 'n roll legend, Myron Lee. Lee has seen plenty of big shows in his day, but says Sir Paul McCartney's ranks at the top.
During the '60s, Lee and his band spent time traveling across the country on Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars. Myron Lee and the Caddies were one of the first American bands that the Rolling Stones played with when they came to the states.
Lee says bringing a show of McCartney's caliber to Sioux Falls will be the biggest show the city has seen.
"This Paul McCartney thing, if you want to go see that, it will, I'm sure it'll be one of the best things you ever did but you've got to get in and get them tickets right away," Lee said.
Rod Schmidt, a lifelong Beatles fan, says he doesn't expect tickets to last long.
"They will have that thing filled in one minute," Schmidt said.
One of Schmidt's biggest regrets is not skipping town in his early teens to see The Beatles perform. He says even to see just one of them perform, is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
"I mean they're going to be packed and put Sioux Falls on the map a little bit. There isn't going to be another guy like this coming along, about every 200 years, Mozart was the last one, and Beethoven. Ok, then you have somebody like this," Schmidt said.
Although, he never got a chance to play with The Beatles, Lee says watching McCartney's performance is very unique in today's world.
"There's probably, maybe only half a dozen people who can get on stage like he can and sing for three hours, and sing hits. And a lot of them he wrote himself. I mean, it's absolutely, It's unbelievable that somebody can do that," Lee said.
So if you have the chance to get out and see the music icon, Schmidt advises just one thing.
" Anybody who has the chance to see Paul McCartney should see Paul McCartney," Schmidt said.
McCartney will be at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center on May 2nd. Tickets will go on sale on Monday, March 14 at 10:00 a.m. You can stop by the KELOLAND Box Office at the PREMIER Center to get yours.
