Sioux Falls Police have named the woman killed in a weekend murder.
Authorities say Jennie Lee Smith-Solorzano, 37, was found dead in the basement of a home on North Cliff Avenue on Saturday.
Her husband, Garrett Solorzano, faces first-degree murder charge in connection with the death.
Police say the suspect made troubling comments to neighbors, so they went to check on Smith-Solorzano and found her body.
Preliminary information from the coroner indicates she was killed up to 12 hours before being found. The investigation shows Smith-Solorzano suffered trauma to her head and neck, along with stab wounds.
Police say a pocket knife was found at the scene and taken into evidence. Officers also executed a search warrant at the home, and more information is expected once that paperwork is filed.
