The Washington Pavilion is home to several big concerts and events throughout the year, but they also offer continuous programs for kids. The Community Learning Center serves 30,000 people in Sioux Falls each year, through science and arts education.

This weekend, they're throwing a big party to keep these programs going!

The Washington Pavilion will be transforming the Mary Summervold Hall into a storybook wonderland for kids!

"We'll have interactive activities all throughout the stage for families to explore. From spell-binding science, to canvas painting, to photo booths and carnival games. It will be a really celebratory event," said Rose Ann Hofland, Director of Community Learning Center.

Staff will be dressed up as fairy tale characters, and kids and parents are invited to dress up as well!

All of this fun is for a purpose. The Community Learning Center offers several free programs for kids. That's why they're trying to raise money with their first "Happily Ever Afternoon" party this Sunday.

"We do all of our education around science, hands-on science, visual arts and performing arts. All of these different, what you might think as different, disciplines are really getting kids to think about collaborating, communicating, exploring our world and thinking critically," said Hofland.

On top of admission to the event, guests can also sign up to become continuous donors through the Friends of the Community Learning Center. And if you have any thespians in the family, there will be some big news about theatre opportunities!

"We'll also be making some very exciting announcements about our DAPA Theatre Program, which works with many many families and students every year, doing different theatre activities - Both at the Pavilion and out in the community. So we have some exciting news coming as well," said Hofland.

The event will be 1:00 to 3:00 Sunday afternoon, and you can buy tickets online, or at the Pavilion box office. Tickets are $50 for adults and $25 for kids.
