A controversial pipeline set to run through KELOLAND is sparking more protest. Area tribal members voiced their concerns Saturday about the $3.8 billion Dakota Access Pipeline, but this time they did it from hundreds of miles away from the Standing Rock Reservation.

A crowd of people gathered near the Missouri River in Sioux City Saturday to show their support for protesters to our north.

Opponents of the Dakota Access Pipeline continued speaking out against the project Saturday.

Bobbi Jean Three Legs is one of the them. She traveled to Sioux City from the Standing Rock Reservation, a major gathering ground for protesters speaking out against the pipeline, which will cross under the Missouri River in North Dakota.

"There's over hundreds of tribes up there standing in solidarity with us. This is history in the making," Bobbi Jean Three Legs said.

But on Saturday, she made her case beyond the boundaries of the Standing Rock Reservation.

"This is all of our water. This isn't just a Native issue. It's everyone's issue. We all drink from the Missouri River," Three Legs said.

"Animal life, plants. Everything we need. It sustains life," Daniel Bearshield.

At Saturday's gathering, several speakers called on their fellow citizens to rally around the issue and voice their water concerns to local leaders.

Three Legs says the efforts of protesters are not going unnoticed.

"Everyone's starting to learn why water is important and this is everybody's water," Three Legs said.
