A Sioux Falls man is in jail accused of firing a gun during an argument on Monday.
Just before noon Monday, Sioux Falls Police were called to a home near Euclid Avenue and 30th Street. Public information officer Sam Clemens said 29-year-old Herman Brewer Motley, III, showed up at the home to fight a 31-year-old man. Police believe the argument was centered around a woman.
A group broke up the fight before officers arrived. Clemens said Motley then went to his car, grabbed a gun and fired multiple times in the air. After the group of people ran from the scene, Motley got into his car and drove away.
A short time later, Motley allegedly drove back and shot the victim's home several times. Police aren't sure how many times he fired the gun.
Investigators were able to track down Motley inside a home near 16th Street and Spring Avenue at around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday by using the vehicle's license plate. Clemens said a .9mm handgun was found inside the house.
Motley was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, reckless discharge of a firearm, commission of a felony while armed, possession of a firearm by a former violent offender, and discharge of a firearm at an occupied structure.
Clemens said no one was injured during the incident.
