Law enforcement in Brandon are reminding residents to keep their property safe.
This comes on the heels of 17 burglary reports that police say happened early Wednesday morning.
Three teenage boys from Sioux Falls were taken into custody in connection to the investigation. Police say the suspects netted gift cards, purses, and knives, along with other items from people's garages and vehicles.
Police Chief David Kull is calling on residents to make sure they're taking their keys out of their vehicles, locking them, and taking valuables out of their cars. He also says it's also a good idea to turn on an outdoor light at night to turn away intruders.
"Brandon is still a pretty quiet community, but part of the problem with that is people have this false sense of security that stuff that happens in Sioux Falls would never happen here," Chief David Kull said.
Kull says more burglaries could be uncovered as residents check their property.
He says if you think you've been burglarized you should let the Brandon Police Department know.
