Progress is being made to restore power to customers on the east side of Sioux Falls. Late Thursday night Xcel Energy reported power outages on a large part of eastern side of the city. An Xcel representative says reports started coming in after 11pm Thursday leaving more than 7,600 customers without power.
Affected areas were east of Sycamore Avenue. Ranging as far north as Washington High School and as far south as 57th Street. According to Xcel's outage map customers as far east as Rowena and as far north as Brandon were effected.
An Xcel representative says right now the cause is unknown. Sioux Falls Police also said they have not received any reports that could be to blame. Xcel's website shows tentative restoration times for 1:30am Friday.
