Police are investigating whether social media posts will help detectives find a murder suspect.

Spokesperson Sam Clemens said Sioux Falls Police are aware of two Facebook posts reportedly made by Jared Stone.

"First of all, we're trying to figure if it's actually (Stone), or if it's somebody else," Clemens said. "But the bigger thing is to figure out where he's at when he's posting those things."

Clemens said he's not aware if it's possible to track Stone's location from posts made on Facebook. But he does think social media is helping police connect to the public about crimes and investigations.

"It's easier for us as an agency to get that information out to people," Clemens said. "We know that people are getting their information a wide variety of ways, and some people are just on social media."

Police are still assuming that Stone is armed and is considered dangerous. According to Clemens, police have received tips that Stone may have drugs in his possession.

Stone is accused of shooting and killing 28-year-old Baptiste White Eyes in front of the Lucky Lady Casino in Sioux Falls on Friday, April 22.
