Your time is needed to help mentor a child!
Just one hour a week is all you need to set aside to change the life of a child in need.
Right now the Sioux Falls school district has more than 1,200 mentors, but there are still several hundred children waiting for an adult role model. It's a problem they'd like to eliminate by the start of the next school year.
"There's nothing more heartbreaking than when you go into a school and you mentor a kid and then there are two or three kids that are saying 'When am I going to get a mentor?"' Mentor Doug Morrison said.
If you'd like to become an everyday hero, you can contact Lutheran Social Services which works with the school district to pair up mentors and children.
