A Sioux Falls native is finding a safe place to store a World Series ring. Dusty Coleman was called up for a short time by the Kansas City Royals last season. Following his stint with the team, the Royals went on to become world champs.
Growing up in Sioux Falls loving the game of baseball, Dusty Coleman had big dreams of one day capturing a World Series ring.
"Just the whole experience is something you know as a kid, you always dream about winning the World Series and being a part of that. To be able to say that I was is pretty awesome," Coleman said.
Coleman is currently getting ready for the season with AAA Omaha after spending spring training with the Royals. He was at the stadium in Kansas City for the ceremony where he joined his parents Brad and Julie.
"Including Dusty in this whole thing, even though he was only up for a month, it was really, really cool. The place was pretty much packed at 2:30 in the afternoon. It was a very, very neat experience," Brad Coleman said.
"I'm very proud. Proud of all three of our children but it was a very special moment to be a part of yesterday," Julie Coleman said.
As you can imagine, the ring is worth a pretty penny. Dusty is already making plans for its security.
"Probably just going to keep it locked away somewhere safe and bring it out on cool occasions for family that want to see it and all that kind of stuff," Dusty said.
While he didn't design the piece of fine jewelry, he couldn't be more happy with how it turned out.
"It's a nice size, nice size ring for sure. I feel like it looks good on my hand though. I like it," Dusty said.
