KELOLAND Supporting Book Drive

Our crew here at KELOLAND TV hit the streets Thursday to accept books for Reach Literacy. Our staff is taking part in a city-wide book drive that will benefit adults learning to read.

KELOLAND Television will be collecting your old books. When Sioux Falls resident Paul Flogstad found out about the two-day book drive, he had to chip in.

"I think it's awesome. I think it's just awesome," Flogstad said.

Flogstad is in the process of moving to a new town. Instead of selling boxes of books at a garage sale, he is donating them to REACH Literacy.

"Good books and good quality and I hate to give some of them up because they've been fun to read. Maybe they'll help somebody else and let somebody else enjoy them too," Flogstad said.

From bestsellers to memoirs and more, people are dropping off a variety of styles.

"Well so far we have cookbooks. We have some romance novels, of course. I've seen DVDs in there, so some movies. A good assortment so far," Karen Floyd with KELOLAND TV said.

"There's some textbooks. There's some novels. There's some historical books. A little bit of everything," Flogstad said.

All of the books be taken to the REACH bookstore on Minnesota Avenue to be sold. Money raised at the store will help support a free service for those in need.

"It's just a great cause to help people learn to read," Floyd said.

And we hope the books keep stacking up outside our studio.

If you missed out on the opportunity to donate. You can stop by on Friday from 7:30-5:30.
